Ladies, ever looked at that wedding gown hanging in the back of your wardrobe and wished you could give it another outing?
For most women, their wedding dress is the most important fashion buy of their lives. Isn’t it a pity, then, that they only get one day’s wear out of it?
However, an event called ‘Bright Lights, Big City’, which will take place at Barberstown Castle on Thursday week, October 13, will give girls the chance to learn how to recycle their wedding dresses into garments that they can wear for big nights out or Christmas parties.
The night, which starts at 8pm, is being run by Classy Lass Bridal Emporium in Clane, in conjunction with eco fashion design label Rediscover Fashion.
It promises to be a great ladies night out for all.
Spin 1038 DJ Nikki Hayes will provide the music on the night and Kildare TV will be on hand to capture all of the glamour.
Dragon’s Den success story Julie Cobbe of Style Fish will be on hand, along with the Leinster Leader’s Laura Coates, to judge the best dressed lady competition on the night, for which there are great prizes on offer.
This one-off event is believed to be the first of its kind in the county.
The inspiration behind the night came from Patricia and Jacinta, owners of Classie Lass.
“We spend a lot of time selecting our gowns and working with brides-to-be to ensure that everything about their dress is perfect for their special day” says Patricia. “It’s so sad that when the big day is over, the dress goes into the wardrobe and may never be seen again.”
Brides-to-be will also not be forgotten on the night, with a preview of this autumn/winter’s collection of bridal gowns now available in Classy Lass.
