It’s been an amazing year for films. We’ve been grossed out, freaked out, we've laughed ourselves silly, filled up our popcorn tub with tears, and been thoroughly entertained.
1. Bridesmaids
Kristen Wiig’s comedy proves that the girls can be funnier and grosser than the boys. Just thinking about a Brazilian BBQ and cheap wedding dresses shopping makes us recall the feeling of choking on popcorn while in hysterics.
2. Deathly Hallows Part 2
Truly the end of an era, the final Harry Potter film was one of the best films in the entire series and a fitting end to the Potter saga. The final battle between good and evil culminated with an epic battle at Hogwarts. *Chokes back tears”
3. The Inbetweeners Movie
One of our favourite TV comedies successfully made the leap to the big screen this year. Will, Simon, Jay and Neil head off on a lads holiday, much hilarity, drunkenness and nudity ensues!
4. The King’s Speech
This multi-Oscar winner was a must-see, Colin Firth was magnificent as the stuttering King working with an unconventional speech therapist. It doesn’t get much more feel-good than this.
5. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1
The hopeless romantic in us loved Bella and Edward’s dreamy woodland wedding, the drama came when Bella discovered she was pregnant and werewolf Jacob had to protect her from the rest of the pack.
6. The Help
Thought-provoking, moving and funny. Set in the racially tense American South in the 60s, this adaptation of the Kathryn Stockett’s novel established Emma Stone as a real Hollywood star
7. Black Swan
Who knew ballet could be so tense and thrilling? Oscar-winning Natalie Portman wowed as the dancer descending into madness as she takes on the dual roles of the White and Black Swan.
8. Friends with Benefits
Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis’ sparkling on-screen chemistry made this booty call buddies comedy one of the best rom-coms of the year.
9. Crazy Stupid Love
Two words for you… Ryan. Gosling. The hunky Canadian actor made us feel week at knees at as the ladies’ man who falls for the gorgeous Emma Stone.
10. Drive
And here’s Ryan again. This time he stars as the stunt/getaway driver who helps his neighbour and gets in a whole heap of trouble. And did we mention Ryan Gosling is in it?
